PT or XG based MUX

When designing a 4:1 Mux which is better a Pass Transistor based or a
Transmission Gate ?

Area : PT is better
Delay : XG might be better and more symmetric
Power : PT would be better because of less cap and less VDD transition levels.

Buffering after 4:1 stages would be useful for a pT based 16:1 mux because in a PT based mux the output of the pass transistor tree has an inverter with a bleeder.
Thus it takes time for the output of the inverter to reach a good zero state.

If we have two inverters in the 16:1 then the LH transition after the first 4:1 is balanced by the good HL in the next 4:1.
